Kendall Jenner stepped out today in New York City in a slick all-black Schiaparelli look, save for a few three-dimensional gold touches. She opted for a pair of curve-skimming flared pants, boots with trompe l’oeil gilded brass toes, and a corset top with a peplum and embroidered gold spiral cups on the chest to emulate, well, a trippy nipple.
The ensemble is a far cry from Jenner’s previous free-the-nipple looks, which she has worn on the red carpet, for her very own lookbook for Kendall + Kylie, and while simply stepping out in a relaxed cardigan. Each time, the top was sheer–and the intention felt obvious. And while that is a trend on the spring 2023 runways, this move from Jenner felt more elevated. Schiaparelli is a French house that has always been anchored in surrealism, a movement that the founder Elsa Schiaparelli used to portray the body through a more elevated, artful lens. For Jenner, it’s the mature iteration of the braless moment.
