Tales of the Walking Dead Stills Unveil Terry Crews, Olivia Munn’s Post-Apocalyptic Bikers

AMC debuts a collection of stills from Tales of the Walking Dead, including the first look at Terry Crews and Olivia Munn's TWD characters.

The Walking Dead fans have their fist official look at the characters Terry Crews (Deadpool 2, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse) will play in the upcoming anthology spinoff series, Tales of the Walking Dead.

AMC has released a set of seven first-look stills from Tales of the Walking Dead. Leading the charge is an image of Crews’ character, Joe, who is seen preparing to ride off into the post-apocalyptic wasteland on his motorcycle. He is joined by his traveling companion, Evie — played by none other than Munn — who is sitting in the sidecar. Another image features TWD alum Samantha Morton as Dee, before she came be known as Alpha, leader of the Whisperers.

Tales of the Walking Dead is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, Aug. 14 at 9 p.m. ET, with the show’s first two episodes streaming the same night on AMC+. Subsequent episodes will begin streaming on AMC+ one week early starting Sunday, Aug. 21. The anthology series will consist of six episodes in total, each telling a standalone story set within the Walking Dead universe.

“Each episode has its own distinct tone and point of view — but the stakes are high in each story, pushing new, indelible characters with relentless, life-threatening choices and situations,” AMC explains. “We get to see the apocalypse through different eyes, discovering more worlds, mythos, and mysteries of the Walking Dead.”

Michael Satrazemis (The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead) is set to direct three episodes of Tales of the Walking Dead, with the remaining three being helmed by Haifaa al-Mansour (Good Lord Bird), Deborah Kampmeier (Star Trek: Picard) and Ron Underwood (Fear the Walking Dead), respectively. In addition to Munn, Crews and Morton, the anthology series stars Parker Posey (Lost in Space), Anthony Edwards, Poppy Liu (Dead Ringers), Jillian Bell (Rough Night), Loan Chabanol (Fading Gigolo), Embeth Davidtz (Old, Ray Donovan), Jessie T. Usher (The Boys), Daniella Pineda (Cowboy Bebop) and Danny Ramirez (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Top Gun: Maverick).

Following Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Tales of the Walking Dead is the third spinoff series to spawn from AMC’s television adaptation of Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard’s comic book series The Walking Dead. AMC’s TWD is currently in its 11th and final season, while Fear recently concluded its seventh and has already been renewed for an eighth.

Additionally, AMC is developing a spinoff focusing on the character of Daryl Dixon, with Norman Reedus set to reprise the role from TWD. The series was originally announced as centering on both Reedus’ Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol Peletier, though McBride ultimately dropped out of the project. A spinoff series titled Isle of the Dead is also in the works, with TWD stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan set to reprise their roles as Negan and Maggie Greene, respectively.
